Our 2010 Platform

Every two years, we review our platform and determine how it should be updated based upon how successful we have been in past years to push our issues and legislative priorities in Olympia and Washington DC. The Platform is the core of what it means to be a Democrat in King County, and it is our list of hopes and dreams for our candidates to run on and our elected officials to implement.

Our Platform Committee did a great deal of work doing this review, and we are very proud of our completed platform that passed on April 10th at the County Convention.

Resolutions

We passed five resolutions at the Convention on April 10th.

• Supporting an Audit of the Federal Reserve
• Urging Repeal of Centralia Power Plant Tax Exemption
• Affirming the Right to Abortion: Repeal the Hydge Amendment and Rescind the Executive Order
• Port Trucking Standards
• Regarding Availability of Voting Facilities (in King County)

Our Platform is an evolving document, and we will do another review during the Caucus cycle of 2012. If you have specific ideas on items and issues that you would like to see included in 2012, please get in touch with our Platform Committee Chair, Joel Ware.

Many of the Legislative District organizations also do work in parallel to bring a more local viewpoint to the process. We encourage you to get involved in your local LD and help them draft a platform that reflects your local values.
