Another Resolution on VoteBuilder access

Resolution to Provide Equal Access to VoteBuilder for Non-Partisan Candidates

Whereas, Democrats elected to city and county positions, whether partisan or non-partisan, are the best source of qualified candidates for state legislative and higher offices, and;

Whereas, it will benefit the Democratic Party in Washington to develop a corps of local-level volunteers who are experienced in the use of VoteBuilder voter database in running local campaigns, and;

Whereas, local, off-year election campaigns have the potential of producing significant new and refined data on voters in their regions, that can benefit all Democratic candidates in the future and;

Whereas, the Democratic Party can strengthen the bonds with Democratic candidates at any level by providing substantial campaign resources, including VoteBuilder, to endorsed candidates, and;

Whereas, funding a campaign for local public office is as difficult as funding a statewide campaign, and;

Whereas, voter database resources can be made available to multiple candidate campaigns at minimal incremental cost to the Party;

Therefore be it resolved, that we, the WA State Democratic Central Committee, agree to provide VoteBuilder access to any and all qualified Democratic candidates for non-partisan office on an equal basis with Democratic candidates for partisan office,

And, the definition of “qualified Democratic candidate” be adopted by the WSDCC Executive Committee, but at a minimum shall mean any candidate endorsed by the County or Legislative District Democratic Party in the jurisdiction the candidate is running in.
