Democratic Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) Appointments

Legislative District Chairs receive PCO applications in each two-year term. The District organizations introduce the potential, new PCOs and vote on the applications. The signed forms are then sent to the County Chair for final approval and addition to the official list of PCOs.

Appointment of PCOs can start as early as the District re-organization meetings, if the County Chair is available to attend and sign forms. If County Chair is not available and county bylaws allow, the following is applicable:

The County Chair will approve all PCOs who meet the following criteria: have filled out the forms, got the most votes in August, have been recommended by the District Chair and organization. The Designated County Officer is authorized to determine whether the form is properly filled out and the conditions met and, if so, may approve the PCO on behalf of the Chair.

The procedure is as follows for approval at legislative district re-organizations:

. County Chair or designated officer convenes the District re-organization meeting.

. Rules and Agenda are presented and approved

. Credentials Report is made

. Bylaws are presented for approval

. Election of New District Chair

. Potential PCOs are presented to the District.

. New PCOs are accepted and approved

. County Chair or Designated Officer signs and approves
applications

. A new credentials report is created and approved

. Re-organization meeting continues under the direction of
the newly elected District Chair, with election of other
officers and committee appointments, and other District
business.
