Thanks to everyone who attended our January 28th meeting at the Little Creek Casino Resort. It was good to see everyone.
We didn't make any decisions, but we talked about a few important things coming up like Redistricting, the Caucuses and how it all links together. Here is a link to the presentation used during the meeting, including the slides from Rick Dewitt's Technology Committee report to the WSDCO.

Democrats and Republicans Unite to Preserve Crucial PCO Elections
The first questions come from Natalie McClendon, Chair of Whatcom County:
"Since we probably won't have a competitive Presidential nomination, how can we best utilize the caucuses, and motivate people to participate, since we have to hold them in any case?
"Ancillary to above: Why can't we use the caucus cycle to nominate LD candidates instead of having to hold a separate PCO-only nominating convention? Answer: cause the rules don't allow it. Then Why shouldn't we use the caucuses ...?
People have started posting questions about the 2012 Election Cycle, on everything from Redistricting to Nominations to the schedule of events, and I will be using this blog to post my perspectives and answers. If you have additional questions, please submit them on the questions page, or if you have additional information or comments about any of these questions, please post your comment below. We will be collecting the answers and providing them at the January WSDCO meeting as well as on this answers page.

Here's the video from TVW:
The Kittitas County Democratic Central Committee unanimously voted on May 26, 2011 to become a member county organization of the Agricultural and Rural Issues Caucus of the Washington State Democratic Party. Concurrent with that vote, Kittitas Democrats elected Debbie Strand as the County’s designated representative to the Agricultural and Rural Issues Caucus. Ms. Strand was also elected to the vacated position of Treasurer of the Kittitas County Democratic Party.
Dear Democratic Activists,
Next week the Redistricting Commission will begin holding a series of public hearings across the state. The input provided at these meetings will serve as the basis for the legislative and congressional district boundary changes proposed by the commission. These hearings are a vital part of the redistricting process and we encourage you to attend the meetings near your community.
The linked maps below show how the Congressional Districts and Legislative Districts need to change to conform to the new population statistics that came out of the 2010 Census.
